About the Series

A National Portrait of a Hidden Crisis

Divided We Fall is a short film series exploring human trafficking through the eyes of the professionals on the front lines — the mandated reporters who encounter victims in the course of their everyday work, and whose awareness, instinct, and courage can change everything.

Each episode is set in a distinct American city, told from the perspective of a specific profession, and grounded in the real landscapes, communities, and systems where trafficking hides in plain sight. Together the episodes form a national portrait of a crisis that touches every city, every industry, and every community.

Story is how knowledge becomes action.

Six Cities, Six Professions

01 Now Funding
Providence, RI / New York, NY
Transportation — Rideshare Driver
“Providence”

A young girl. A long ride. A drop-off location that doesn't feel right. The driver has the length of the trip to decide whether instinct is enough reason to act.

02
Washington, DC
A Foster Home
“For Your Eyes Only”

A fiercely dedicated foster mother battles a failing system to reach her withdrawn teenage daughter, ultimately discovering that the girl's self-destructive silence is masking a terrifying nightmare of online sextortion.

03
Chicago, IL
Education
“Imagination”

On the Southside of Chicago, a school professional notices something in a ten-year-old boy that his silence is trying to hide. With the help of an unlikely ally, they find a way into the world Conrad has built to survive.

04
East Oakland, CA
Healthcare
“International Blvd”

On International Boulevard, an ER nurse treats a teenage girl whose injuries tell a different story than the one she's been told to give. In the waiting room, someone is watching. Someone is also waiting to be seen.

05
New Orleans, LA
Hospitality
“Occupancy”

A sold-out hotel. A national conference. Thousands of professionals who came here to connect. Camille has worked these floors for six years and knows what normal looks like. This isn't it.

06
Houston, TX
ICE Agent — Immigration Enforcement
“Internment”

A detention facility. A twelve-year-old girl. A man whose story doesn't add up. One agent's window to act before the system moves faster than the truth.

Phase 1
Profession-Focused Short Episodes — 20 Minutes Each

Each episode centers on a mandated reporter in a specific situation. The trafficking victim exists in the story, but we experience everything through the professional's eyes: what they notice, what they're uncertain about, what they decide to do. This aligns directly with the training and creates immediate educational value.

The Music

The Soundtrack Bears Witness

Each episode features a curated soundtrack of artists local to the city where it was filmed.

The music isn't just background — it bears witness. Every soundtrack is a collaborative effort rooted in the same communities the stories inhabit.

Calling Musicians
Are You an Artist in One of These Cities?

We are building the soundtracks city by city and want to hear from local musicians — especially artists with a connection to this work. Send us your music and the city you call home.

The Screenings — Planned

Six Nights of Film, Music, and Conversation

Each episode premieres in the city where it was filmed, with a live performance by the episode's featured artists.

Six community events bring together advocates, professionals, survivors, and allies.

Storytelling With
a Job to Do

Divided We Fall is the storytelling arm of We Are Louder's Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Training — training that teaches professionals what to look for and what to do when signs of trafficking present themselves.

The film series shows mandated reporters why their role matters: through characters they won't forget, in cities they know, set to music that stays with them long after the credits roll.

Knowledge is key to making a difference. Story is how knowledge becomes action.

The Need
27.6M
People affected by human trafficking worldwide.

It happens in hotels, hospitals, schools, rideshares, and detention facilities — in plain sight, every day.

The professionals who encounter victims most often are frequently the least prepared to recognize what they're seeing.

Divided We Fall changes that.
